Seminar Description

The courses of this seminar meet the Texas Board of Nursing’s continuing education requirements for each topic. At the end of the course(s) participants will have increased knowledge and skills related to:

  1. Forensics
    The science of forensics including the definition, applicable laws, the primary and focused secondary survey of a forensics patient, evidence collection, chain of custody, and documentation principles in forensics cases. Fulfills NPA §301.306 and Rule 216.3(d) This is a one-time requirement per nurse effective September 1, 2006.

  2. Older Adult / Geriatric Care
    Physiologic changes in older adults that contribute to disease processes, chronic conditions and memory loss; adaptation of care for this special population, including Injury Prevention, identification of elder abuse and reporting requirements and end of life care. Fulfills the NPA§301.306 and Rule 216.3(h) This 2-hour course meet the requirement for any nurse whose practice includes older adult or geriatric population. Such a course needs to be completed before the end of every licensing period that began on or after January 1, 2014.

  3. Legal and Ethical Issues in Emergency Care
    Key elements of the Texas Nurse Practice Act, Board of Nursing rules and position statements, principles of nursing ethics and profession boundaries. Fulfills the NPA§301.306 and Rule 216.3(g) This 2-hour course meets the requirements for all nursed to complete at least 2 contact hours of CNE related to nursing jurisprudence and nursing ethics before the endo of every third two-year licensing period (applicable to licensing periods that began on or after January 2014).

  4. Human Trafficking: Training for Healthcare Personnel
    Major categories of human trafficking (HT); what differentiates HT from smuggling and consensual commercial sex; the scope of the problem; recognizing vulnerabilities, risk factors, and indicators of HT; applying patient-centered interventions for healthcare providers. Fulfills NPA§301.306 and Rule 216.3(i) This 1½ hour course has been approved by the Executive Director of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and meet the requirement for any nurse who provides direct patient care. Such a course needs to be completed before the end of every licensing period. (Applicable to licensure renewals on or after September 1, 2020)

This is an online webinar and it will be held on Zoom.com. Registrants will be emailed the Zoom access link once payment has been received. This seminar is limited to 80 participants per course.


Seminar Fee

  • ENA Members or LVN/EMT/Student*:  $20 per course.  Discount for all four courses – $70.
  • Non-Members:  $30 per course.  Discount for all four courses – $100.

Registrant must be an ENA member on the day of the seminar to receive the ENA member discount.
*Student – as defined by ENA: an individual obtaining their initial licensure as an RN (registered nurse).
